The legendary singer, comedian, songwriter and movie star needs no inroduction. A shame that it has taken until 1998 for the release of an album with his early material from the 1930s and 1940s, and the big surprise in this 21 song package are the 3 previously unissued items which otherwise would probably not have seen the light of day. Here is the proof that Smiley can even sing straight stuff very well. He played various instruments very well, too, but a giant of the guitarist even helps him out on his 1940s recordings.
