With this CD you will be able to buy the third solo album of Jimmy Wakely Trio members. Dick was less successful as a solo singer compared to Jimmy Wakely & Johnny Bond. One of the reasons was his early death in 1948. He was professionally active as a singer and guitarist since the mid-20s and in the early 30s, he formed with Roy Newman, Bert Dodson a group which they called "The Wanderers at Dallas' WFAA". Later he joined "The Light Crust Doughboys" and "The Universal Cowboys". In 1940 he started as a solo singer for the Okeh label and his contract with Columbia/Okeh had ceased in 1947. Exactly this period is presented in this album. Musicians of this album are "The Universal Cowboys" in 1940. The later recordings list "The Lone Star Boys" on the orginal 78 RPM labels. Perhaps this has just been a studio band with possibly members of Jimmy Wakely's band (most probably with Jack Rivers on guitar). This is Dick's first album over 50 years after passing on and a long overdue gem in the history of country music.
