Texas Jim Lewis and his Lone Star Cowboys was one of the finest Western Swing bands of the 1940s. Most of the tracks in this album were recorded from the mid to late 40s with Jack Lewis (later Rivers) and Jim on vocal or by Jim with Trio. The instrumentation in the songs varies a bit from song to song. Instruments used were fiddle (Cactus Soldi), steel (Tommy Sargent) accordion, bass, rythm guitar plus the great lead guitar of Jack Rivers. Jim is also using his invention of the hootinanny occasionally. All items have been previously issued on 16" Standard transcriptions only. Same great style like the CATTLE LP 16 and 17, but no duplications at all. |
