CCD 226 Rosalie Allen - The Hillbilly Yodel Star Of The 1940s = F YODEL BOOGIE/AHA! SAN ANTONE/TAKE IT BACK AND CHANGE IT FOR A BOY/GUITAR POLKA (Old Monterrey)/NEVER TRUST A MAN/ME GO WHERE YOU GO, AMIGO/HE LIVED IN TEXAS (And She Lived In Arkansas) <duet with Billy Williams>/IF I'D ONLY BEEN TRUE TO YOU/I WANT TO BE A COWBOY'S SWEETHEART/YODEL YOUR TROUBLES AWAY/WHEN YOU'RE IN LOVE/LETTERS FROM HOME/YOU AIN'T GOT NO TIME FOR ME/ALONG THE LONELY TRAIL/WHEN A COWGIRL IS HAPPY/PUT YOUR ARMS AROUND ME/WIDE ROLLIN' PLAINS/YOU AIN'T WHERE YOU COME FROM NOW/ROSE OF THE ALAMO/MAMA WHAT'LL I DO/HITLER LIVES/I CAN'T TELL THAT LIE TO MY HEART/MOUNTAIN POLKA/BELIEVE ME, I'LL BE LEAVING YOU/DON'T WAIT TOO LONG TO FORGIVE <duet with Tex Grande=Denver Darling>/Bonus track by Tex Grande and his Range Riders: NO LETTER TODAY. The tracks on this album were made from ca. 1944 to 1949. Patsy Montana's big fame was fading when Rosalie appeared on the scene. She started recording in 1944 with Denver Darling's band, later changed to the Zeke Manners band where she met Elton Britt with whom she had different charts successes around 1950. She also did duets with Billy Williams, Red River Dave and Eddie Marshall. She was probably the most successful yodeling girl of the late 1940s and early 1950s. 26 tracks including her first items, some rare transcriptions and the more popular Victor recordings are presented in this CD album. Two of the most important musicians are Vaughn Horton (steel) and Chet Atkins (electric guitar). A must - at least for yodel fans! More information here: |
