The Bailes consisted of 4 brothers (Homer, Johnnie, Walter and Kyle). Usually, they appeared and recorded as a duo in different combinations. In the 1940s, they were discovered by Roy Acuff. In the late 1940s only Roy Acuff sold more records on Columbia. They were regular members of The Grand Ole Opry and co-founders of The Louisiana Hayride. All items on this CD were recorded from 1945 to 1947 for King and Columbia. 4 items have been previously unissued and only 4 tracks have been on LPs before. Some titles have only been available as live or radio cuts, but here are the 78 RPM versions. Other musicians on this album are Del Heck (fiddle), Ernest Ferguson (mandolin), Evely Thomas (bass), Shot Jackson (steel guitar and Dobro). Many of the Bailes Brothers songs were later adopted by Bluegrass bands and "My Heart Echoes" was the biggest hit for Jimmie Osborne. The Bailes had their last 3 sessions for the King label in 1953. In the 1960s and 1970s they did only recordings for independent labels on a small scale.
