Bill Carlisle was widely known as a band leader of The Carlisles who were at their peak in the 1950s, but Bill was also part of the Carlisle Brothers since the early 30s. Cliff did also lots of solo recordings and was most popular country artist of the 30s next to Jimmie Rodgers. He was a singer, songwriter and steel guitarist and can be heard on many of the Bill Carlisle items in this album taken from the DECCA and KING labels which were originally released from 1939 thru 1949. The selections are mostly straight songs. Although the content of songs varies from the later Carlisles material, Bill's powerful voice and temperant is peaking through on every track. It's an album that should fill a gap in every record collection. Use this link for further information: |
