The Carolina Playboys are completely unknown nowadays. Even about the musicians themselves not everything is known anymore, but it is absolutely sure that most or all of them were members of the WBT Briarhoppers from Charlotte, North Carolina at one time or another. Central figures of the Playboys were the late Fred Kirby and Don White. The vocal parts on this album are executed by Whitey & Hogan plus a third voice, which makes a beautiful trio. The dominating instruments are guitar, steel guitar, string bass and accordion, sometimes also fiddle or trumpet. It's a very melodic mixture of popular C & W songs that were recorded in the mid 40s.
