Curley Williams had without a doubt one of the best Western Swing bands in the 1940s and early 1950s. Not for nothing did he belong to the cast of the Grand Ole Opry and the Louisiana Hayride. He was great fiddler and an excellent singer himself, but also had good vocalists in the band like Joe Pope, Boots Harris (he was also most of the time his wonderful steel guitar player) or Jesse Kennedy and his daughter Georgia Ann. Nearly each one of the band members could play different instruments. He also had 3 brothers who all played with the Georgia Peach Pickers. Great vocal stuff, great steel instrumentals and 7 rare soundtracks from TV films. |
