In their early years the Chuck Wagon Gang recorded secular and sacred songs: Samples of both styles are included in this CD. Rose, Anna, Jim and Dad Carter started as the Carter Quartet in 1935, but obviously to avoid a mix-up with the then already popular Carter Family they have changed their stage name a year later. However, their beautiful, powerful harmony singing can really compete with the Carter Family. Jim plays the accoustic guitar on probably all of the tracks.
