Judy Martin was a very talented country lady in the late 1930s and 1940s. She was Red Foley's 2nd wife until she comitted suicide in 1951. She was basically known around Renfro Valley and Chicago through the regular broadcasts in these areas, but only cut very few duet recordings with Red Foley on Decca and Vocalion. Her transcriptional solo recordings from the peak of her radio career are now available, some items were vocally assisted by Red Foley or the Mountain Rangers. Judy has a wonderful voice which could be described as a blend of Patsy Montana and Cindy Walker. "My Old Pal Of Yesterday" is the most beautiful rendition of the old Jimmie Rodgers song one might have heard. |
