Some fans claim that Carolina Cotton was country music's number 1 yodeler. That could be. However, she was one of the world's greatest yodelers for certain. She started with Dude Martin's band until Spade Cooley hired her in 1942. She also sang with other great stars of the 1940s as Gene Autry, Merle Travis, Bob Wills, Deuce Spriggens, Eddy Arnold and made numerous movies or film shorts with them. A pity that she stopped making films and records after 1952. Here is a colorful collection of commercial recordings, radio transcriptions and songs that were excerpted from films. Several items are reproduced in different versions and the material is bascially very rare. Too bad Carolina can't enjoy this album herself anymore. She passed away June 10, 1997. |
