This album is of great historical meaning for several reasons. Salty Holmes was previously a member of the original Prairie Ramblers. The Amber Sisters (Amburgey Sisters aka Minnie, Martha and Mattie) were one of the first all-girl country group in the 1930s. They recorded for King and Capitol records in the first part of the 1950s. Mattie also recorded with Salty as a team for King, London and MGM and Salty recorded solo items for Decca. Mattie recorded for Hickory under the name Opal Jean in the early 50s and in 1956 she signed up with Sun Records as the Rock-a-Billy singer Jean Chapel who was billed as the female Elvis by Sun. That could be true because of her powerful honky-tonk voice. Martha also did a lot of gospel recordings as Martha Carson with big success.
