The Coopers was one of the most successful husband and wife duos dedicated to Mountain flavored Country Music. Both singers had a very powerful voice. This album includes some of the very early and rare Rich-R-Tone recordings previously released in 1946 and the rest is Columbia items up until 1953 with Bill Carver and Buck Graves on Dobro, Stoney on fiddle, Wilma Lee on rhythm guitar, Ab Cole on bass and Blaine Stewart on mandolin. Wilma Lee does 4 solo vocals and all others are duets with Stoney. Ab Cole assists vocally on 2 of the Rich-R-Tones. After Stoney's death in 1977, Wilma continued as a solo act. Her style was changed to Bluegrass then with her playing the banjo. |
