This album has been available on LP before with 21 tracks. Now tonal quality has been improved and 6 tracks were added by Hal Hart where Freeman does the electric guitar backing. All items have been previously released on the ARA and Four Star labels from 1944 to 1949 and include Porky's original million seller "Boogie Woogie On Strings" and is similar performed as Arthur Smith's famous "Guitar Boogie". Porky does the vocals except where noted otherwise. The Porky Freeman Trio consisted of Al Barker, Red Murrell and, of course, Porky, but also other remarkable musicians like Merle Travis, Jimmy Pruett and Slumber Nichols were used on the recording session. Certainly a great album for fans of this type of music from the 1940s. |
