These recordings were made for RadiOzark in Springfield, Missouri in 1951 when the group was at its peak. Lanham was a terrific guitarist like Bryant, Travis or Atkins, but hardly made any solo recordings, so he didn't make the charts, but with his guitar skills he helped many artists in both the country and pop field to climb the charts. When Karl Farr passed away in 1961 he filled his place in the Sons of the Pioneers. Solo vocalists in this group are Dusty Rhoads and Sweet Georgia Brown, but you will hear the entire group singing as well. Dusty also plays bass, Gene Monbeck rhythm guitar, Arthur Douglas Dalton mandolin and fiddle and Sue Thompson of the Shorty, Sue & Sally team accordion. |
