Joe was inspired by Jimmie Rodgers and was a highly underrated artist in the 1950s. He had a preference for railroad songs and that is why producer Fred Rose gave him the nickname "Cannonball". Lewis recorded these sessions with musicians like Chet Atkins <electric guitar>, Joe Talbott <steel guitar>, Gordon Terry <fiddle>, Coy Farmer <rhytm guitar>, Shorty Whittaker <mandolin>, Ray Brandenburg <banjo> and other unidentified musicians. Ray Brandenburg also sings harmony on "Missing In Action". |
