All recordings were made in 1939/40 in Atlanta, Georgia with guitar and several times also with fiddle accompaniment. It seems that the US citizen was far more popular in Australia than in his homeland. Many of his 78 RPMs were released in Australia back then, and an LP of these items was issued in Australia in 1986. His style could be almost described as a blend of the early Ernest Tubb & Wilf Carter. His voice is fantastic and so are the songs - many of them written by himself. The restored items on this Mono CD sound by far better than his Australian LP. They are a must for Country fans of 1930s and 40s material.
